This page provides a summary of rules the explore department has adopted for their classrooms. Each class may have unique rules according to the needs of their students and their class. All of the rules and the progressive discipline steps below are encouraged, enforced, AND posted in the classroom.
When a student breaks a rule below he/she will write the rule (all words written on classroom poster, which are also below) according to the number of times that student has broken that rule(see chart below). If the student does not complete the assigned sentences then they are given the next consequence. All sentences are due the following day unless the teacher writes a different due date in the planner. Students are to write three numbered items in their planner (in pen). These items must be written in one general area: 1) in the column of the day/date the infraction was committed, 2) last box, &/or 3) in the "After School" section below the last box, 4) &/or in the hall pass section under the above.
Student is to write the following in their planner: 1) exactly what they did. Example: 1) I told Robert Downy, "Are you going to the PTA dance?" 2) rule they broke. Example: 2) This is my first time breaking the talk when appropriate rule. 3) number of times they need to write the sentence with due date. Example: 20 sentences due Friday, 8/26/16
First offense: Student writes the title and entire rule they broke 20 times. Second offense: 20 times Third offense: 40 times Forth offense: 80 times Fifth offense: Detention Sixth offense: Referral & 80 sentences (completed in lunch detention until finished or ACP)
